shoutout to my kid brother for catching this thing and releasing it outside for me. i'm not generally scared of spiders and tend to like them but this thing was a little larger than a toonie (canadian $2 coin) which scared the shit out of me since it's one of the biggest i've ever seen, but my brother doesn't fear even the big boy sized ones

hobo spiders are apparently one of the most poisonous house spiders we have where i live. they also eat other spiders and have a funky funnel shaped web. this one made its web on the floor by my closet (which is where i took this picture) and you could see a dead daddy longlegs and some other small black spider in its web in the full photo
